internet filtering

In the light of the fact that I returning to the school internet system, and websense filtering, I have been looking into the whole question of internet filtering in school. This is a very good model that I have found - http://www.mrstucke.com/2010/10/08/a-progressive-approach-to-the-internet-in-school/

online digital video resources

youtube video editor - http://www.youtube.com/editor  it will do basic trimming, splicing, transitions, and you can add music. The constraint of course in working online is the quality of the video - which has to remain low resolution, otherwise it would take ages to upload (video files tend to be huge).

The benefit is that it is free and that students know youtube well.

vimeo does not seem to have an online editing facility yet, but they do have a new video school -

and this is a sample, which is fun -

Working alongside Nathan McGurl to create an interactive website for the Independent Schools Art and Design Association. This has entailed a couple of meetings in London, and time with Nathan. The site will encourage art teachers in the organisation to share and collaborate.

Lending iPads to staff

It is difficult to have an idea of the potential of the iPads without playing with them - so I have offered these out to staff over the Easter holiday.

Oldham iLearning Conference

I was planning to talk at this conference in February last year, but was prevented due to illness. I was hoping to talk again at this year’s conference in March, but it has been postponed until June.
